NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Mount Saint Mary College director of athletics John Wright is pleased to announce a partnership with the Hudson Valley Radio Network to broadcast men’s and women’s basketball games for the upcoming season.

The games will be broadcast live on the Hudson Valley Radio Network’s three stations, WBNR (1260-AM) in Beacon, WLNA (1420-AM) in Peekskill, and WGHQ (920-AM) in Kingston. Long-time broadcaster Rob Adams and Mount Saint Mary College alumnae Christine Baker will call the action.

Rob Adams, a lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley, brings a wealth of play-by-play experience to the Mount. Adams has served as the voice of the Greenwich (CT) High School athletics programs since 1998 and has called many other games for high schools and professional teams, including baseball’s Hudson Valley Renegades and Bridgeport Bluefish. He is currently the Sports Director at WGCH in Greenwich, Connecticut. Adams also hosts “The Press Box”, a nationally syndicated sports talk show heard weekdays on the Lifestyle Talk Radio Network.

“It’s an honor to be chosen as the first play-by-play announcer in Mount Saint Mary College history,” said Adams. “I’m really humbled by the opportunity to work with a Mount Saint Mary legend in Christine Baker.”

Christine Baker, a 1995 graduate of Mount Saint Mary College, is considered an expert on the subject of women’s basketball. She is a cited source for the New York Times sports department and lectures regularly on the subjects of Title IX, youth sports, and women’s basketball. Baker is also the author of Why She Plays: The World of Women’s Basketball. A four-year member of the Blue Knights under current head coach J. Randall Ognibene, Baker served as a team captain for three of her four years. She broke the single game scoring record (38 points), the single season scoring record (538 points), and the all-time scoring record (1,523 points).

“My time spent at the Mount as a student-athlete was a wonderful experience and I’ve always made every effort to stay in contact with the College,” said Baker. “This is a great chance to stay engaged with the Mount and it’s going to be a lot of fun to be back on campus.”

The Mount Saint Mary College women have won 10 consecutive Skyline Conference championships and have made 10 consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III tournament. The Blue Knights have advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament in each of the last two seasons. The Mount Saint Mary College men have experienced great success in the past and seek a return to the top of the Skyline under new head coach, Ryan Kadlubowski.

The first broadcast is scheduled for November 16 as the men head to Stony Brook University for their season opener. The first women’s game to be aired will be November 18 as the Blue Knights take on SUNY New Paltz.
