Old Westbury's Whitenack selected in eighth round of Major League Baseball Draft by Chicago Cubs

SECAUCUS, N.J. - SUNY College at Old Westbury junior right-handed pitcher Robert Whitenack was chosen by the Chicago Cubs in the eighth round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft held Wednesday afternoon. He was the 260th selection overall, becoming the first Panther ever to be drafted by a Major League team and was the first Division III player taken in the 2009 draft.

James Quiroga named head men’s soccer coach at Mount Saint Vincent

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – College of Mount Saint Vincent Director of Athletics Steve Macias has announced the hiring of James Quiroga as the school’s new head men’s soccer coach. Quiroga comes to the Mount with both college coaching experience at Iona and club coaching experience at FC Westchester, one of the premier clubs in the country.
