2008 All-Skyline Conference Men's Volleyball Teams (PDF)

Bard College senior outside hitter Zachary Hamaker was the driving force that led the Raptors to the Skyline Conference men's volleyball championship. Hamaker, who earned Skyline Conference Player of the Week on five of a possible nine occasions during the regular season, averaged 3.69 kills and 3.51 digs per game while hitting .292. He also led Bard with 55 service aces (0.59 per game) and ranked second on the team with 58 total blocks (0.62 per game). Hamaker ranked in the top five in the conference in kills, digs, aces and hitting percentage.

Hamaker, who was also named the Most Valuable Player of the inaugural Skyline Conference Men's Volleyball Championship, was at his best in the four-team Skyline tournament. In two tournament matches, he hit .478 with 25 kills and just three errors in 46 attempts. Hamaker also averaged 4.17 kills, 4.67 digs, 1.33 blocks and 0.67 service aces in the Raptors' two Skyline tournament matches. He recorded a team-leading 16 kills in the championship. The Skyline Conference title was also the first for Bard which began play in the conference in the fall.

Bard College freshman opposite Brice Ormesher, a three-time selection as Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, was selected as the conference's Rookie of the Year. Ormesher averaged 2.38 kills, 1.70 digs, 0.44 service aces and 0.25 blocks per game. He ranked second on the team in service aces, third in kills and fourth in digs. Within the conference, Ormesher ranked sixth in the conference in service aces and seventh in kills per game. He was one of seven freshmen on a young Raptor roster.

College of Mount Saint Vincent head coach Tom Callahan was selected as the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year in men's volleyball. Callahan guided his squad to a 6-2 mark in Skyline regular-season play and a runner-up finish in the conference tournament. The Dolphins were plagued by injuries to key players during the season, but Callahan, who completed his third season at the Mount, still managed to guide his team to seven wins in the last 10 matches.

Polytechnic University was selected as the recipient of the Skyline Conference Team Sportsmanship Award for outstanding sportsmanship in men's volleyball.
