Grabowski-Clark, Chan, Callahan earn top honors as All-Skyline Conference Men's Volleyball Teams are announced

Junior outside hitter Dan Grabowski-Clark (photo by Oren Vourman) earned Skyline Conference Player of the Year honors in men’s volleyball after leading Purchase College to an eight-win improvement over the previous season. Grabowski-Clark, who ranked in the top four in the conference in three statistical categories, helped the Panthers improve from a 4-18 mark in 2008 to a 12-11 record this season. The junior ranked fourth in the Skyline Conference in kills (2.95/set), third in service aces (0.63/set) and second in blocks (0.95/set) while also averaging a team-leading 1.81 digs.

Bard College freshman Nick Chan becomes the second straight Raptor to earn Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year honors in men’s volleyball. Chan had the biggest impact of any freshman in the conference, earning Skyline Rookie of the Week honors on six occasions. He led the conference in kills per set (4.20), finishing the season with 441 total kills. No other player in the conference even reached 300 for the season. Chan also finished 10th in the conference in service aces (0.36/set), eighth in blocks (0.55/set) and seventh in digs (1.94/set).

Senior outside hitter T.J. Pufahl was selected as the Most Valuable Player in the Skyline Conference Men’s Volleyball Championship. Pufahl led the Dolphins to their first Skyline title with victories over Yeshiva in the semifinals and Bard in the championship. He hit .309 (27-10-55) in the two matches. In the semifinal victory over Yeshiva, Pufahl hit .381 (11-3-21) with six service aces. In the final against Bard, a close four-set match, he had 16 kills, one service ace, four digs and three total blocks.

College of Mount Saint Vincent head coach Tom Callahan was selected as the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year for the second straight season. With a roster consisting largely of freshmen and sophomores, Callahan guided his team to a 15-13 overall record, including an 8-0 mark in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins also captured their first Skyline title with victories over Yeshiva and Bard in the conference tournament. Mount Saint Vincent also earned its first bid to the ECAC South Men’s Volleyball Championship for the first time since 2002.

Yeshiva University received the Team Sportsmanship Award in men's volleyball after displaying outstanding sportsmanship throughout the 2009 season.
