After posting a perfect 18-0 mark in conference play, Mount Saint Mary is the top seed for the 2011 Skyline Women’s Basketball Championship. The six-team Championship will be held Feb. 22-26 on campus sites.
The 24th-ranked Knights boast an overall mark of 23-2 and have won 17 consecutive games. MSM will play at 8:00pm on Thursday, Feb. 24, after earning a first round bye. NYU-Poly also earned a first round bye as it secured the No. 2 overall seed in this week’s Championship. The Lady Jays finished tied for second place in the standings with Farmingdale State but earned the No. 2 seed as a result of their season sweep in head-to-head action with FSC.
Championship action commences on Tuesday, Feb. 22, as No. 3 Farmingdale State hosts sixth-seeded Purchase, while No. 5 Sage visits fourth-seeded Old Westbury. Purchase shared sixth place with Mount Saint Vincent in the conference standings but claimed the final spot in the Championship by virtue of the league’s tie-breaking procedures.
Purchase is the top seed for the 2011 Skyline Men’s Basketball Championship, which will be held Feb. 22-26 on campus sites.
The Panthers captured the regular season title with a mark of 17-3 enter this week’s Championship riding an 11-game winning streak. Also earning a first round bye is Mount Saint Mary, which finished tied for second with St. Joseph’s-L.I. but claimed the No. 2 seed by virtue of the league’s tie-breaking procedures.
Championship action commences on Tuesday, Feb. 22, as No. 3 St. Joseph’s-L.I. hosts sixth-seeded Mount Saint Vincent while No. 5 Old Westbury visits fourth-seeded Farmingdale State.
Semifinal matchups will be held on Thursday, Feb. 24, while the championship game will take place on Saturday, Feb. 26.
