Matchups Set For 2015 Skyline Women's Basketball Championship

NEW YORK, NY - Following a perfect 12-0 record in conference play, Farmingdale State is the top seed for the upcoming four-team Skyline Women’s Basketball Championship, which tips off on Feb. 26.

The Rams (17-8) seek their second league crown in three seasons and are led by junior guard Andrea Desvignes, who has scored at least 20 points in 12 of the team's 25 games this season.  FSC will host fourth-seeded Mount Saint Mary at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26. The Knights (9-16) qualified for the championship after a one-year absence and senior forward Natalie Candarelli leads MSMC in scoring (10.4 ppg.). 

The second semifinal at 7:00 p.m. on Feb. 26 consists of third-seeded Sage visiting No. 2 Mount Saint Vincent.  The Gators have won a program-best 18 games and are the defending Skyline champions.  Senior guard Megan Bowman leads Sage in both scoring (13.9 ppg.) and steals (70).    

Mount Saint Vincent (20-5) has compiled its highest victory total since 2007-08 and leads the conference in scoring with an average of 76.5 points per game.  Senior forward Kelly Fraser (17.3 ppg.) is a six-time Skyline Player of the Week selection this season, while sophomore guard Christina Barone leads the conference with an average of 7.5 assists per game.

The finals of the 2015 Skyline Women’s Basketball Championship will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, with the winner receiving the league’s automatic berth to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship.
