Farmingdale State Captures 2015 Skyline Softball Championship In Dramatic Fashion

Senior Michelle Mongielle Tabbed Most Outstanding Player Of The Championship

BOX SCORE

NEWBURGH, NY - Sophomore Lori Michalowski's walk-off single to deep left with one out in the eighth inning scored Andrea Klarman and gave No. 2 Farmingdale State's a dramatic 1-0 win over top-seeded Mount Saint Mary and the Rams' fifth consecutive Skyline Sofball Championship.

Klarman opened the bottom of the eighth with a single off of MSC freshman Cindy Connoly and advanced to second on a single by senior Michelle Mongiello.  A ground out by rightfielder Marisa Monaco moved both runners into scoring position before Michalowski delivered with her second hit of the afternoon.  FSC (21-12) senior Taylor Tedeschi (10-7) allowed eight hits and fanned two in the victory, while Mongiello went 3-for-4 and was tabbed the Most Outstanding Player of the Championship.

Connoly (10-6) shined in the circle for the Knights in the loss, yielding seven hits and striking out nine.  Freshman Courtney Barbara led MSMC (19-11) with three hits, while second baseman Shannon Sommer added a pair of hits for the Knights, who stranded nine runners on base in the contest.

Farmingdale State will learn of its opponent in the 2015 NCAA Softball Championship when the pairings are unveiled on May 4.
