NEW YORK| With regular-season play now in the books, the six-team field is set for the 2018 edition of the Skyline Conference Men's Basketball Championship.
First-round action gets underway Tuesday (Feb. 20), with semifinals and final action set to take place Feb. 22 and 24, respectively.
Defending champion Farmingdale State College (18-7, 16-4 Skyline) is the top seed in the field, and earns a bye into Thursday's 7 p.m. semifinal round. Also earning the first-round bye after the conference's tiebreakers split a four-way tie for second place is second-seeded, Purchase College, SUNY (17-8, 13-7).
Head coach Brendan Twomey's FSC squad awaits the winner of Tuesday's 8 p.m., first-round contest between fifth-seeded Mount Saint Mary College (13-12, 13-7) and fourth-seeded Yeshiva University (15-10, 13-7) at YU's Max Stern Athletic Center.
Meanwhile, Purchase will take on the winner of Tuesday's 7 p.m. match-up featuring sixth-seeded SUNY Old Westbury (12-13, 11-9) and third-seeded College of Mount Saint Vincent (15-10, 13-7) from the Peter Jay Sharp Center in Riverdale, N.Y.
The winner of the championship earns the Skyline's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship.
