Skyline Spotlight: Bryan Woodhead, Old Westbury

2013-14 Season Highlights: Woodhead was named the Skyline Conference Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 25 while also collecting a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll on Nov. 11…in six individual races, he won five of them while placing second in the other…produced season-best times in the 50-yard freestyle (21.85), 200-yard freestyle (1:54.67) and the 100-yard backstroke (56.43)…in two relays, he combined to finish first in the 200-yard medley relay (1:47.58) versus  Brooklyn and Staten Island on Oct. 29 and finished second with a season-best time of 1:47.53 against Maritime on Nov. 5. 

Career Highlights: Named the 2012-13 Skyline Conference Co-Swimmer of the Year and 2011-12 Rookie of the Year…set a Championship record as a freshman in the 50-yard freestyle (21.28)…in two Skyline Conference Championships, he won all six individual races and twice finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay…five-time Skyline Swimmer of the Week selection and five-time Skyline Rookie of the Week…set career best times as a freshman in the 50-yard freestyle (21.28), 100-yard backstroke (54.54), 100-yard freestyle (47.57), 100-yard butterfly (55.36), 200-yard freestyle (1:50.59), 200-yard individual medley (2:07.81), 500-yard freestyle (5:41.44) and 200-yard freestyle medley (1:22.89)…posted a career-best time as a sophomore in the 200-yard medley relay (1:33.63)...competed at the ECAC Championships as a freshman and sophomore. 

In The Classroom: Woodhead has been named to the Athletic Director’s Academic Honor Roll in three of his four semesters…Named to the Skyline Conference Winter Sports Academic Honor Roll as a freshman. 

Off Campus: Woodhead works as an assistant coach for the West Islip Swim Club, where he provides children with a good mentality and the knowledge of the sport that he has loved and participated in for almost his entire life. Bryan is also a four-year member of the Smith Point Ocean Rescue. 

Did You Know?: Bryan’s sister Sandi, is a freshman member of the women’s swimming team and has won all 12 of her races to open her career, earning Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week honors in three consecutive weeks.
